Checked in Today! Guild Weekly Update 6-22-13

Your Guild at Work for You
What is new at the Checked In Today! Guild for the week of June 22, 2013?

> You will notice several spots in the newsletter that draw attention to Marketing Opportunities available to all. I am trying to find these as I travel about the guilds and web to provide you guys with opportunities to get more exposure. As well as I am trying to link this blog to your items to give you some of those wonderful backlinks. If you have some that I need to know about, please send them to me, so I can include them. Eventually, I will set up a little section on here for them.

-- New Members - We want to welcome the following new members to the Checked In Today! Guild

- The Checked In Today! Guild is 189 strong.- Please remember to check in daily using the Check in button on the My Artfire page. It is on the left hand side and is blue until you click it, then it turns orange. It is good for 24 hours and is part of this guild's membership requirements.

If you wonder why our numbers seem to never move, it is because we will have 10 new members and then seven who never check back in again and disappear. I remove them after they have been gone a week or so. I recently needed to remove a few members who have not checked back in since they joined. I am not sending warnings to folks. Those who have not come back into their studios over 1 week without a vacation notice are being removed from the guild. They may rejoin when they are able to commit to checking in.

-- New Collections-
Here are the latest collections from your fellow guild members. Take a few moments to rate, comment and share these great collections. Making collections is time consuming and the more views these artists get, the more exposure your guild and your studio gets.

-- Checked in Today! guild forum updates:

Heard around the forum this week:

> Lacey of Sew-Full introduced herself and requested information how to best go about getting acclimated to Artfire. A perfect time to remind people that if you are from Etsy, things are different here.

Read this first, If you're from etsy.

Artfire is different than Etsy, so you need a whole new mindset. This is closer to a standalone website than a community of sellers.  You are found through Internet searches more than searches within Artfire. That is why Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is so darn important. You must write it like your customers would search for it. Here are some Artfire links to help you with SEO.
Introduction to SEO
How to improve your SEO on Artfire
SEO Keyword Research

Use your titles to load up your keywords and repeat them in the first part of your descriptions. The title is what you would think your customer would look  for when searching. “Brown Shoes Size 6” “Caramel Brown Clogs Womens Size 6”

Write your descriptions as if you have no photos and take your photos as if you have no description.

Tony wrote this: Photography Q&A.
Google will eventually crawl your studio, so it will take some time to see traffic from the net. In the meantime, jump in and promote, promote, promote on Facebook, Pinterest, Wanelo, Twitter and make collections.

> If you want to see your posts here, then you have to post them in the guild forum. I try to gather information from all the areas that we use, but if there are no posts or collections then I cannot help you.
